Caribbean Culture Highlighted by Hampton Roads Creatives

Creativity is the heart and soul of what makes each culture uniquely its own. Imagine, for a moment, vibrant textiles, ritual masquerades, and mouthwatering aromas of blended spices - what comes to mind? The rich culture of the Caribbean people. In a month, Dayvii Seven recognized the interconnected tapestry of Caribbean culture, from Barbados to Trinidad, to Jamaica, and Cuba, and all the way to the Dominican Republic. We highlighted the vivid color that explodes when these diverse groups collide. Not only do we want to celebrate Caribbean culture, but we also want to shed light on the talent behind it to shape this story.

Creative Director Endiya Mapp, founder of Endigo Creative, sets forth to tell the story of other creators and brands. Her work is designed to highlight the vision of her clients through different visual art forms. Specifically, during Caribbean Heritage month, Mapp directed a fashion editorial project called Related by Rice. The aim was to celebrate Caribbean Heritage - showcasing the local Caribbean people of the Hampton Roads area A.K.A “THE 757”.

The Related by Rice project was captured by photographer, Nyzir CurryBrandt. CurryBrandt is part of a media enterprise known as “Dreamers Visionz - Creative Media Mob”. They are built on the belief that creativity resides in everyone and they unlock creativity by capturing the moment and giving the vision life. Dreamers Visionz specializes in photography and videography for birthdays, graduations, and portraits, just to name a few of their services.

Although all talent listed here operates independently of one another, one thing is consistent: their drive to tell meaningful stories and bring them into reality. Stories that capture the essence of a brand, an individual, or, in this case, a culture, are what move people to action and seek further.
